CT State Police Academy Approved Basic Pistol Safety Course (Pistol Permit)
This State Police approved basic pistol certification course is a one-day, eight-hour session, providing classroom instruction and live-fire range qualification exercise. This course meets the requirements of the Connecticut pistol permit application.
This Basic Shooting Course introduces students to the knowledge, skills and attitude necessary for lawfully owning and using a pistol or revolver safely. Through this course, the student will learn firearm safety, pistol and revolver nomenclature and operation, ammunition, storage laws, pistol and revolver shooting fundamentals, firearms cleaning. Students will be administered a written examination and live fire pistol/revolver shooting qualification. This basic course is a foundation to help prepare the student for applying for a state permit and be able to participate in other firearm courses.
This course will also provide students with the opportunity to get familiar and comfortable with the weaponry prior to the live firing exercise. It allows for supervised instructions with the weapons in a relaxed and inviting setting. With this course Students that may own a firearm (Pistol/Revolver) will be able to have instructions utilizing their own firearm or with a similar make and model that is provided (prior notification is required).
Upon successful completion of the class, the student will receive a certificate required for the Connecticut resident pistol permit application. This certificate can also be used for a non-resident Pistol Permit application.
Private One-Day Class
Private classes are offered for any individual or small group of friends and families wishing to learn on a one-on-one or private small group settings. This class includes the entire training program and all training materials, ammunition, targets, firearms usage, eye and ear protection are provided. What to bring:
- Your identification (we will need a copy).
- Drinks and snacks are allowed in the classroom. Lunch is provided
- Prior arrangements are required, personal firearms and ammunition are allowed for this course. Personal Firearms are to be secured and transported per Connecticut state laws. The Firearm must be inspected by the Firearms Instructor prior to being allowed into the classroom or range.
What to wear:
- Please wear comfortable clothes that are appropriate to season and allow for active movement.
- Do NOT wear low cut shirts. No open toed shoes/sandals or high heels.
- During the winter months bring a sweatshirt for range practice.
Cancellation 0r Rescheduling Policy
If you are unable to attend a scheduled class, you can reschedule by contacting us no later than one week prior to the class date. You may reschedule a class once, and your attendance is required within an agreed time period. As an option your class can be transferred to another person with prior approval from TC Training Disciplines LLC. TC Training Disciplines, LLC has the right to cancel and reschedule any class due to safety reasons, inclement weather or other unforeseen situations. If you do not show up for your scheduled class, there is no refunds or reschedules. If you fail the class, there is NO REFUND.
