NRA Basic Pistol Safety Course (Pistol Permit)

This NRA certification course is a one-day, eight-hour session, providing in-class instruction and live-fire exercises at the range. This course meets the requirements of the Connecticut application for a pistol permit. (The Connecticut Pistol/Revolver permit also covers the purchase of rifles, shotguns, magazines and ammunition). Our instructors have facilitated the basic pistol training course for over 25 years and are committed to a safe, informative, and enjoyable experience for all participants.

Students will learn shooting fundamentals, State and Federal firearms laws, pistol/revolver nomenclature and operation, as well as ammunition and gun-safety principles. Student will be administered a written examination in addition to a live-fire range qualification.

This course will provide students with the opportunity to get familiar and comfortable with the weaponry prior to the live firing exercise, allowing for supervised interaction with the weapons in a relaxed and inviting setting.

Upon satisfactory completion of the class, you will receive a certificate required for your pistol permit application. This certificate may also serve as the requirement for a Connecticut Non-Resident Pistol Permit. This certificate may be transferable to other states.
